A guide to PLanned GIving

This material is intended to offer general information about charitable gift planning. The Foundation for TJO Animals does not provide legal, tax, or investment advice, and the details shared here should not be relied upon as a substitute for guidance from qualified professionals. Before finalizing any charitable gift, please consult your personal legal and financial advisors to ensure your plans align with your individual circumstances.

Every animal deserves a chance to heal, to feel safe, and to be loved. The Foundation for TJO Animals, works every day to make that possible—funding critical veterinary care, enrichment support, and second chances for pets who need them most.

By choosing to include the Foundation in your long‑term plans, you create a legacy that continues this lifesaving work long into the future. Planned giving is not complicated; in fact, we have designed it to be clear, approachable, and reassuring—so you can support the animals close to your heart with confidence.

We know how deeply animals become woven into our lives. They greet us, comfort us, and share our happiest moments. And ensuring their well‑being, as well as the well‑being of pets still waiting for a family of their own, can be one of the most meaningful gifts you leave behind.

Will or Trust

Including the Foundation for TJO Animals in your will or trust is one of the simplest and most flexible ways to make a lasting impact. With just a few sentences in your estate plans, you can ensure that animals in need continue to receive the care and compassion they deserve.

A gift through your will or revocable trust can take many forms. You can choose to give a specific dollar amount or leave a percentage or the remainder of your estate. This flexibility allows you to shape your legacy in a way that aligns with your wishes and your love for animals.

Retirement Assets

Choosing to give through your retirement plan is a powerful way to support animals well into the future. Assets from IRAs, 401(k)s, 403(b)s, pensions, and other tax‑deferred accounts can make a meaningful and lasting difference for animals who depend on the Foundation for TJO Animals.

For many people, a portion of their retirement savings goes unused during their lifetime. By designating the Foundation as a beneficiary of the remaining balance, you can transform those unused funds into lifesaving care for the many animals needing veterinary care, diagnostics, medications, enrichment and so much more.

Making this type of gift is simple. Just request a beneficiary designation form from your plan administrator and name the Foundation for TJO Animals as a full, partial, or contingent beneficiary. Your future generosity will help give countless animals the second chance they deserve.

Life Insurance

Designating the Foundation for TJO Animals as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy is a meaningful and straightforward way to support animals in need. You can name the Foundation as the beneficiary of an existing policy, or—if you have a paid‑up policy you no longer need—you may choose to make the Foundation both the owner and beneficiary of that policy, creating an immediate and lasting impact.

When you make a gift of life insurance, the full benefit passes to the Foundation free of federal estate tax, allowing your generosity to directly help animals long after your lifetime. Updating your plans is simple: just request a beneficiary designation form from your insurance provider or employer and list the Foundation for TJO Animals as the beneficiary.
