The Foundation for TJO Animals is excited to be participating in #GivingTuesday on December 3rd, a 24-houronline giving event for charities, and we'd love your support!
This year for Giving Tuesday, we will be raising funds for a special Shelter project that is long over due. We will be upgrading our cat colony rooms. This project will cost approximately $25,000.
In 2023, Thomas J. O’Connor served as a safe haven for over1,700 cats and kittens. As a municipal animal control facility, they take animals from every situation imaginable- confiscations, evictions, overcrowding, cruelty investigations, and strays.
For some cats, the stay at the shelter is a quick blip in their life story. But for cats involved in legal or medical situations the stay can be longer and more stressful. The cat colony rooms are critical in helping cats to remain as stress free as possible when they are in TJO’s care for months.
Cat colony rooms allow for group housing of cats or allow for cats with specific behavioral or medical needs to be housed separately.Cats are able to roam freely, accessing hiding spaces, cozy spots to nap, hammocks, walkways to play on and enrichment items. Over the years countless cats have utilized these spaces during their shelter stay and the wear and tear is showing.
We are excited that this year’s Giving Tuesday campaign is focused on redoing and upgrading these rooms that are so critical for their success and happiness. The plan will include repairing the walls and doors and enhancing enrichment playscapes which will make life better for cats in our communities. Please consider supporting the Foundation as we raise much-needed funds for this highly important campaign for the TJO cats.
Help us reach our goal of $25,000 this year!!
